Falco-Vulcano Szombathely and ERA Nymburk look to keep representing smaller countries with pride

It is fair to say that a matchup between Hungarian champs Falco-Vulcano Szombathely and Czech powerhouse ERA Nymburk wouldn't have been easy to predict at the start of the season. Hell, it would have been hard to predict when Falco-Vulcano Szombathely inbounded the ball with a few seconds to go, down three points against Maccabi Ramat-Gan at the Savaria Arena.

But in the end, both teams are here, one thanks to Marcell Pongo's incredible three-pointer from halfcourt, saving the day for the Hungarians, and the other because it has simply dominated a Group D featuring three of the teams that are still standing in the Round of 16.

Francesco Tabellini's side, ERA Nymburk, simply were too good to be stopped, finishing 5-1 in Group D and currently 21-2 in the Czech NBL.

Former Bucknell University point guard Stephen Brown has the key to the Czech offense, averaging 14 points and 4 assists per game, while Christian Bishop's athleticism on the wing has secured rebounding and defense.

Zoltan Perl has been the leader for the Hungarians - on the other hand - although at the Savaria Arena, Coach Milos Konakov's team needed something special. An incredible buzzer-beater from halfcourt earned them the extra 5 minutes they needed to secure the 106-100 win.

Both teams have been impressing European basketball fans, and neither of them will want to stop now. Who will have the upper hand in Szombathely?
