With just one game left in the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers, Sweden and Montenegro meet in Stockholm in a game that could shape the final Group D standings. Montenegro, currently 3-2, is in prime position to qualify, needing either a win or a loss by 20 points or fewer to secure their spot. Sweden, sitting at 2-3, must win to keep their EuroBasket dream alive and avoid elimination.

The last time these two teams met, Montenegro dominated at home, securing a 95-70 victory in Podgorica. Kendrick Perry led the way with 18 points, including a decisive 12-point stretch in the third quarter, while Marko Simonović added 16 points and 8 rebounds. Sweden struggled to keep up with Montenegro’s offensive execution, despite 15 points from Barra Njie.

This time, Montenegro will be without Perry, who has been their primary offensive engine. His absence leaves Jonah Radebaugh and Charlie Moore as potential replacements. Radebaugh’s familiarity with Montenegro’s system, having played with Nemanja Radović and Marko Todorović at UCAM Murcia, could make for a seamless fit. Meanwhile, Moore has been one of the top guards in Spain’s Liga ACB this season, averaging 14.3 points and 4.5 assists for Breogán.

Sweden, under head coach Mikko Riipinen, knows this is a must-win game. The team will look to Melwin Pantzar and Viktor Gaddefors to lead the way. Pantzar, Sweden’s top scorer in the qualifiers, is averaging 14.3 points per game, while Gaddefors has been a key presence inside, leading the team with 6.8 rebounds per game. If Sweden is to flip the script from their last meeting, they will need to improve their defense, particularly in transition, where Montenegro punished them in Podgorica.

A Montenegro win would guarantee qualification and also clinch a EuroBasket spot for Germany. If Sweden and Bulgaria both win, a four-way tie at 3-3 would be created, and the team with the worst point differential would be eliminated. Sweden must not only win, but also monitor results elsewhere to see how their qualification chances play out.
