NINERS Chemnitz looking to force a Game 3 as it's win or go home at the Messe
Being up by 14 points on the road - what a place to be for NINERS Chemnitz at the Muradiye Sports Hall during Game 1 of the 2024-25 Basketball Champions League play-ins.
Little did the Germans know that Hugo Besson, Fabian White Jr. and Saben Lee would combine for 21 points in a crazy 21-5 run that completely turned the ballgame on its head in this instant BCL classic. The Manisa trio missed only two attempts in the crucial quarter to steal an incredible home win and travel to Germany with a real chance of taking care of business.
Jeff Garrett and Aher Uguak had been unstoppable until midway through the fourth for the visitors, combining for 29 points, William Christmas adding a solid 14-point, 9-rebound performance.
However, nothing mattered when Hugo Besson stole the ball with the halfcourt trap, sprinted to the corner, and received a beautiful Leon Apaydin pass to convert the game-winning three pointer. What a game, what a mountain for NINERS Chemnitz (and especially Jeff Garrett, perfect until that last turnover) to climb.
NINERS had some time to rest and reflect as they played no game at the weekend, whilst Manisa Basket lost to ONVO Büyükçekmece in the Basketbol Süper Ligi. Who will get the upper hand in Germany?
