Watch Wemby and Team France take on SGA’s Canada on Star-Studded affair
It was a one-sided affair the last time Team France and Canada met, just under a year ago in the opening day of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup both teams will remember for opposite reasons.
It was a bad omen for France as SGA dropped 27 points in as many minutes to pick apart France in a 30-game blowout that set Canada up for a third-place finish.
France could not count on their rising star Victor Wembanyama, at roster in the current iteration of Team France and very keen to make his mark as the Transalpines prepare for their home Olympics tournament.
Team Canada can count on significant reinforcements compared to the 2023 FIBA World Cup too, with Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray part of the team announced on July 10.
With over 20 players boasting NBA experience between the two teams, this preparation game feels more than a simple exhibition.
The Olympics are approaching fast, and with only a fortnight between tip-off and the first games in Paris, Jordi Fernández and Vincent Collet will want to make sure their stars are gelling ahead of the tournament start.
Who will have the last say as France and Canada clash in Orleans – France’s big frontcourt or Canada’s elite backcourt?
