Georgia and Gilas play for a spot in the semi-finals

Georgia started on the wrong foot, being blown out by Latvia on opening day in Riga. Without Toko Shengelia, and a rain of three-pointers coming their way from the hosts,  they could not hold more than a single quarter.

However, their hopes are still alive if they win against Las Gilas. Will the Crusaders stay alive, or will Philippines have the upper hand?

Las Gilas were super impressive against Latvia, running away with a 20-point lead in the second quarter thanks to incredible performances from Kai Sotto (18 points, 8 rebounds) and Justin Brownlee nearly going for a triple-double with 26 points, 9 boards, and 9 assists for Las Gilas.

The Filipinos are now in an enviable position and, were they to repeat the performance they put in against Latvia, they would be favorites to come out as winners of Group A.

The permutations are as follow:

  • Georgia need to win by at least 18 points to progress as second.
  • Georgia need a 48-point win against Philippines to snatch the top seed.
  • Philippines need a win to come out first.
  • If they lose by less than 48 points, the Philippines will still go through as runners-up.
