Spain one win away from first place in Valencia OQT

Spain rolled over Lebanon in their FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments debut in Valencia. The Cedrus Libani were no match for La Roja as they put a 40+ margin between them and the visitors.

Counting on Santi Aldama (17 points) and Usman Garuba (15 points, 8 rebounds) made all the difference for Scariolo, as Spain use their NBA players to put one hand on group first place.

Next on the calendar: Angola. The African powerhouse might potentially offer a more competitive obstacle for Scariolo’s team, but Spain enter the contest as complete favorites. Angola won’t likely lose by 45+ points like Lebanon did, but Spain’s quality is likely to prove too much for them to stand in their way.

The Africans will have one more shot at the semi-finals tomorrow, when they face Lebanon for the final match of the group stage.
