Spain host Lebanon looking for consistency 

Spain Head Coach Sergio Scariolo will turn to La Roja’s fans as he prepares to host one of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in Valencia. 

Spain’s last win before last week’s success against the Dominican Republic was at the 2023 FIBA World Cup against Iran. 

It is not a euphemism to say that Spain, one of the most successful national teams in basketball history, have struggled recently: La Roja has lost to Latvia, Belgium, and Italy before finding the joy of victory against a KAT-less Dominican Republic. 

Scariolo needs to find some answers, and he needs to find them quickly even in the relatively low-competition group his Spain team has been placed into. 

Lebanon’s preparation consisted of three blowout losses in a row to Lithuania, and Wael Arakji’s absence does not bode well for the Cedrus Libani in their pursuit of another upset after their demise of France at the 2023 FIBA World Cup. 

Anything other than a convincing win for Spain will be considered a misstep for Scariolo’s team, playing to give team legend Rudy Fernandez another chance to play the Summer Games.
