Brazil and Montenegro Kick Off the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament

Brazil and Montenegro are ready for an entertaining kick-off of the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments as both teams compete for a berth at the summer games.

With three games (one won, two lost), Brazil experienced a mixed preparation for the OQTs, with coach Aleksandar Petrovic sweating over Yago dos Santos’ fitness.

The Crvena Zvezda star playmaker left the floor during the KLS finals against Caboclo’s Partizan Mozzart and never returned. Brazil’s hopes linger on making the most of an experienced roster and being able to count on their star playmaker.

Montenegro’s campaign started on a similar note, with a resilient comeback win after being routed by a Giannis-less Greece at the Peace and Friendship Stadium.

The Crna Gora rebounded with a comeback win over Bahamas to end their preparation on a 50% record.

Brazil – Montenegro Preview

If Yago Santos is healthy enough to be effective, Brazil’s depth should make them favorites for this match.

The carioca can count on a strong play-pivot duo in Santos-Caboclo, while also having 23-24 BCL MVP Marcelinho Huertas to run the offense, and Raul Neto’s return is a big boost for Aco Petrovic’s side.

Caboclo raised eyebrows when he left his club side Partizan Mozzart as he travelled to the US for personal reasons without authorization, but the big man starred for Brazil in all the three friendlies Brazil played.

It would be a serious mistake to rule out Montenegro, though, and chances are if the game is decided in crunch time, the talent of BCL Finals MVP Kendrick Perry and Chicago Bulls superstar Nikola Vucevic could be just enough to pull off a minor upset.

The battle in the paint between Bruno Caboclo and Nikola Vucevic should be a mouthwatering prospect for basketball fans worldwide, as the stakes increase and teams compete for a ticket to Paris.
