  • Rematch of last year’s BCL final four clash, won 68-69 by Hapoel Jerusalem.
  • Both teams looking to go 3-0 in Group K of the BCL Round of 16.
  • Head-to-head in favor of Jerusalem, with a 2-1 score.

Lenovo Tenerife looking for revenge after Final Four heartbreak

When these two teams last met, Khadeen Carrington’s layup with 20 seconds on the clock was the difference between the teams, with the Israeli team qualifying for the BCL finals and the Canarios licking their wounds, their hopes shattered by Bruno Fitipaldo’s airball from three-point range that could have meant a ticket to the final.

Lenovo Tenerife have moved on, and look more solid than last season, if possible, as they travel to Belgrade to face one of the most consistent teams at the Round of 16: the team coached by Ilias Kantzouris have won 11 of their 12 games (per Opta) at this stage of the competition.

A close contest

When Hapoel Jerusalem and Tenerife meet, it’s usually a close affair. Two of their three encounters (the one won by the Israeli team) have come with a margin of two or fewer points.

Lenovo Tenerife are hunting for their 100th BCL win and will play with a chip on their shoulder and their new addition from Panathinaikos, Kyle Guy, has integrated flawlessly in Txus Vidorreta’s system, scoring 25+ points in both his first two Round of 16 games.

If he manages to extend this run, he will join 2023 BCL MVP TJ Shorts II as the only player with a three-game sequence with over 25 points.

Speaking of milestones, BCL legend Levi Randolph is 25 points short of joining Vojtech Hruban and Giorgi Shermadini in the very exclusive club of players that have 1000 points in the Basketball Champions League.

Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem – Lenovo Tenerife prediction

Both teams have been looking incredibly solid, and math would make it sound foolish to bet against Jerusalem, with their 6-1 record and impeccable Round of 16 pedigree.

However, fresh team of the month point guard Marcelinho Huertas and Lenovo Tenerife look up for the task. We are predicting a close game, won by Lenovo Tenerife with a small margin.
