Salaun and Sako combine for 48 to push Cholet to 3-2 record
Cholet Basket scored 97 points, their highest ever tally in the BCL, completing their sweep over Darüşşafaka Lassa and putting themselves in a great position to fight for the top spot in Group C of the Basketball Champions League.
The potential NBA first-round pick started with an 11-point first quarter and could not seem to miss the target from deep. He got help from Neal Sako and TJ Campbell to ensure Cholet led 25-14 after 10 minutes.
Muhammad-Ali Abdur Rakhman tried to get the Turkish side back in the game, but Cholet did a great job of keeping the visitors at distance, leading the game for 38 minutes and leading for as much as 14 points (87-73).
This felt like a mature performance for a young lineup missing their veteran, and all-time BCL leading scorer, Vojtech Hruban. Cholet took care of the ball extremely well (2 turnovers) and dished out 26 assists.
Salaun and his teammates will look forward to hosting Tenerife at La Meilleraie on December 19th, when they can secure first place in Group C. What an achievement that would be for a team that went through the qualifying rounds and was part of a tough group!
